Thyroid Disorders
TSH is the most sensitive test of thyroid function - high in hypothyroidism, low in hyperthyroidism.
The thyroid sets metabolic rate. TSH moves opposite to thyroid hormone because of pituitary feedback.
TSH direction
High TSH = underactive (hypo). Low TSH = overactive (hyper). The pituitary shouts louder when the gland is lazy.
