What are biotechnology drug products?

Pharmaceutical biotechnology has enabled the creation, modification, and manufacture of recombinant biological products for therapeutic use. Cell lines, recombinant DNA, and highly sensitive analytical methods are used to design, discover, and evaluate specific new drugs, imaging agents, and diagnostics.

Small-molecule drugs are built by chemistry. Biologics are GROWN - engineered cells and recombinant DNA make large, complex molecules (proteins and nucleic acids). Because they are made by living systems, how they are made shapes what they are.
